🎄The Shire Administration Building and Capel and Boyanup Libraries will be closed from 12 noon on Tuesday, 24 Dec and reopening at 8.30 am on Thursday, 2 Jan.🎄

Waste Transfer Station Holiday Hours

• Tuesday, 24th December: Closing early at 12:00 PM

• 27th to 31st December: Open as usual

• 25th, 26th Dec and 1st & 2nd January: Closed for the public holidays.

Emails will not be actively monitored and responded to until we return in the New Year.

Emergency work requests will still be received and actioned on a priority basis by contacting our Call Centre on (08) 9727 0222.

International Volunteer Day Celebrations

This morning, the Shire of Capel celebrated International Volunteer Day in style at the iconic Elgin Hall, with over 100 attendees coming together to honour our incredible volunteers!

The event was hosted by the talented Dalyellup Youth Collective members, Grace O’Neill, Leena Scott, and Raegan Scott, who did an outstanding job as MCs.

Shire President Doug Kitchen kicked off the morning with a roaming mic session, encouraging our community to share their tips on recruiting new members.

During breakfast, David Bourne from the Elgin Community Hall Inc. – the 2024 Community Group of the Year – captivated the crowd with a fascinating look back at the history of the Hall.

A huge thank you to the Elgin Hall Committee for the delicious breakfast catering, and of course, to our amazing volunteers who give so much to our community. Your dedication makes a world of difference.
