How can I prepare for my interview?
Interviews can be nerve-wracking, so to help you prepare below are some tips:
- Ensure you have the correct details for your interview, including time, date, and location. The majority of our face-to-face interviews will be held at our Shire Administration building
- Plan your travel and aim to arrive 5-10 minutes early so you have time to acclimatise and gather your thoughts before the interview commences
- If your interview is online, please ensure you are in a quiet location, and test your camera and microphone before joining the interview
- Dress appropriately for the occasion, smart casual attire is best
- Review the position description and do some research about the Shire prior to your interview. You are welcome to bring notes along with you to refer to
- We usually have between 2-3 staff members on the interview panel. Each member may ask you questions. Listen carefully to the questions and please ask us to repeat or clarify a question if unsure
- Our interview questions are mostly behavioural. We will ask you to describe situations you have been in to demonstrate the behavioural competencies listed in the position description.
