An ‘All Hazards’ approach

Emergency management in Western Australia is based on an "all hazards" approach.

The roles and responsibilities of agencies and organisations are defined under the Emergency Management Act 2005 and the Emergency Management Regulations 2006.

State emergency management policies and procedures are prepared by the State Emergency Management Committee (SEMC) to support the emergency management legislation.

Local Emergency Management Arrangements

In accordance the Shire of Capel has prepared Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA’s)

LEMA 2022 to provide the coordination arrangements at the local level affecting our community.

Community Recovery

Recovery is described as restoring or improving of livelihoods and health, as well as economic, physical, social, cultural, and environmental assets, systems and activities, of a disaster affected community, aligning with the principles of sustainable development and “build back better”, to avoid or reduce future disaster risk.

In the event of any major disaster in the Shire of Capel we are committed to bouncing back better using the community centred recovery approach.

To guide Recovery the Shire has developed the Local Recovery Plan (LRP)
