We’re thrilled to announce that The Shire of Capel has been re-endorsed as a Waterwise Council!
This recognition is the result of our ongoing commitment to sustainable water management and creating a waterwise community that is cool, liveable, green, and sustainable.
How we kept our Waterwise Wings:
To retain this prestigious endorsement, we've been busy bees:
• Signed a Memorandum of Understanding because promises matter.
• Reviewed our water consumption and rolled out a Waterwise Council Action Plan, aiming for every drop to count.
• Ensured our staff became waterwise wizards with specialized online training.
• Achieved full compliance with groundwater licence conditions - not a single infringement in sight! Lots of regular data recorded by our team to show this
• Embraced annual reporting to share our water-saving journey and inspire others.
Why it Matters:
Becoming and remaining a Waterwise Council isn’t just about meeting criteria. It’s about setting a standard for our community and leading by example in:
• Assessing and improving how we manage water across all operations.
• Identifying water-saving opportunities and setting actionable goals.
• Fostering a culture that values and optimizes our precious water resources.
A Splash of Gratitude:
Thank You to The Shires Parks and Gardens staff, the community,
@watercorporation and The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), for their support.
