Weed Control

The Shire of Capel advises that during the months of July and August 2024, the Public open space reserves throughout the Shire will be treated for the control of weeds and reduce flammable biomass for the coming fire season.
An application of herbicide will be applied to bushland areas in public open spaces for the control of annual and perennial weeds and grasses.
Due
to the unpredictable nature of weather conditions, exact dates for application activities cannot be confirmed.
Appropriate signage as required by the Health (Pesticides) Regulations 2011 will be clearly displayed on the contractor’s vehicles and footpaths during the application.
Treatment will be undertaken by licensed contractors with the operations monitored by shire officers in accordance with safety guidelines.
