Funding & Grants

The Shire of Capel offers a number of funding opportunities such as the Sports Participation Scheme, Minor and Major Community Grants, Event Sponsorship as well as an annual invite for residents to submit your ‘Wish List’ for consideration during Council’s budget deliberations.  Experienced staff are available to help community groups source and apply for funding.

Minor Community Grants Scheme

The Shire’s Minor Community Grants Scheme is now open!

The Minor Community Grants Scheme is an annual Shire of Capel initiative established to support the development of the community through the provision of community funding opportunities.

Community groups, clubs and organisations that require financial assistance are encouraged to apply under these schemes for projects in the following areas:

  • Sport and Recreation
  • Youth Development
  • Culture, Arts & Events
  • Equipment and Minor Projects

The Minor Community Grants Scheme closes at 4 pm on Friday, 22 February 2019.

Council has made available two Minor Grant Scheme categories:

Projects under $2,000

The Council may make available minor grants to a maximum of $1,000 including GST being half the total project cost.

Projects $2,000 up to $10,000

The Council may make available grants to a maximum of one-third of the total project cost to a maximum of $3,333 including GST per project.

Healthway provides sponsorships to Sport, Arts Racing and Community Events organisations and community groups which encourage healthy lifestyles

The objectives of the Healthway sponsorship program are;

  • To encourage healthy lifestyles through the effective promotion of health messages relating to Healthway priority areas;
  • To reduce, where ever possible, the promotion of unhealthy messages or brands which undermine Healthway objectives;
  • To facilitate structural and policy change within organisations and venues to create healthy environments; and
  • To increase opportunities for priority populations to participate in healthy activities.
