We’re proud and honoured to have received multiple awards at this year’s Local Government Policy Awards on 8 august 2019.
Shire President Cr Murray Scott received an Eminent Service Award from WALGA for his notable contribution to the Local Government Sector.
Cr Scott also received the 2019 ANZAC Award for a population greater than 10,000 on behalf of the Shire of Capel. The 2019 Anzac Award acknowledges collaboration between Shires and their local Retired Serviceman’s League (RSL) for Anzac Day commemorations and community involvement. The submission for the highlighted the collaboration between the Shire of Capel, the Capel RSL and the community.
The Community Development and Health Teams took out a commendation winner award for Environments Promoting Physical Activity. The submission demonstrated how the Capel Civic Precinct encourages physical activity and encourages inclusion in the community.
Cr Doug Kitchen also won a scholarship from WALGA to undertake a Diploma of Local Government. The diploma is the highest level of qualification that an Elected Member can obtain through WALGA Training. It has been designed specifically to meet the skills and knowledge requirements of an Elected Member’s role in Western Australia.
