Community members interested in becoming a councillor at the next local government elections joined a state wide webinar informing prospective candidates about the roles and responsibilities in the Capel Shire Council Chambers on Thursday night.
Eight prospective elected members from the shire attended the event and expressed an interest in running for a position on council in the October elections.
Chief executive officer Paul Sheedy said he expected that more people may come forward to nominate for a position on council.
He said it was the opportunity to be a voice in the community and be part of the decision making process which impacts the region.
He urged the community to make sure they are enrolled to vote before September 1, as their voice is just as important as those running for a position on council.
