The Shire of Capel provides various waste and recycling services to residents.

Weekly Waste and Recycling Kerbside Collections

Homes in urban areas have a 3 bin system including a general waste bin, a recycling bin and an organics bin.

Homes in special rural areas have a 2 bin system including a general waste bin and a recycling bin.

Verge Collections

Homes in urban areas receive two verge green waste collections and one hard waste collection each year.

Homes in special rural areas receive one hard waste collection each year.

Capel Waste Transfer Station

The Waste Transfer Station provides a service for Shire residents and property owners to dispose of various wastes and recycling they can’t dispose of via other means.

Waste & Recycling Statistics and Benefits

The Shire of Capel and Shire residents are leaders in recycling in WA. In 2014/15 nearly 48% of waste collected by the Shire was recycled. This is higher than almost all other regional councils in WA as well as most metropolitan councils.
