Ron Maidment Archives Room
Situated in the Iluka Capel Public Library, the Ron Maidment Archives Room is the center for our Shire’s history. The Collection preserves and celebrates the history of places, people and activities within the Shire of Capel. The collection consists of images, booklets and reports, community newsletters, rates books, oral history recordings, family papers, books including inscribed bibles, and museum objects such as textiles, original Shire Hall artifacts, and honor boards.
Wishing to Make a Donation?
Donations of historical or contemporary images, ephemera and documents pertaining to the Shire of Capel or to families residing within the Shire, residents, events, businesses and industries are encouraged and warmly received.
Research Requests
Research requests may be made in person, by phone or email. The Archives Room is open Thursday mornings 9.00 – 12.00, and appointments can be made during this time. Appointments outside of the Archives Room opening hours may be arranged and are subject to staff availability. Requests can also be emailed to localhistory@capel.wa.gov.au
