Captivate Capel

The inaugural Captivate Capel event this April is set to transform the town into a hub of activity, with a team of artists bringing to life glimpses of the Shire’s history through murals being painted on Capel buildings.

The event will take place over two weeks commencing on April 8 through to the launch on April 22, with markets, community art workshops and an interactive walking tour all kicking off from 10am-4pm.

Some of the South West’s most talented artists will create artwork on businesses, Shire buildings, cafes and local shops and everyone is being encouraged to get involved.

On Saturday, April 22 there will be a community art project taking place on the Shire’s water tank behind the Capel Community Centre with artists lending a helping hand to avid painters. Artists will be at the Retro Caravan called “SHOUT” to ask everyone to help paint it to suit the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. Be astonished as you watch Phil “Paint Storm” Doncon as he break dances to the sound of music… while he paints! If you like solving puzzles, walk around and fill in the crossword, there are two and one is for primary school students. There are Act, Belong, Commit prize packs to be won.

This will be a perfect day to get active, be inspired and to get creative, commit to coming along and belonging to our community.

There is something for everyone to take part in with laser tag for the whole family to enjoy, a skate/scooter/BMX competition will also get underway in the Capel Civic Precinct with a DJ, and a bouncy castle will be on offer for the younger ones.

Stratham in the Future

Do you want to have a say on what is missing in Stratham and what is required in the future?

Then you need to attend the Stratham Community Forum on Tuesday 28th March 2017 at the Capel Golf Club commencing at 7.00pm.

Shire staff will present feedback from the strategic community plan forum held at the Golf Club in December 2016, outline Council’s future plans for Stratham and surrounding areas in regards to roads and community facilities and how the community can submit requests for budget consideration.

Discussion will also be held on the possible formation of a Stratham Community Association.

A light supper and drinks will be provided at the conclusion.
